BACOLOD City – Criminal and administrative cases were filed against Mayor Nilo Jesus Antonio Lizares III of Talisay City, Negros Occidental before the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas in Cebu City.
Four former employees of the Talisay City government lodged the complaint on Dec. 7.
They were Mary Jane Julie Pabiana, Ronnie Necesario, Ronie Nochete, and Fredie Solayo.
Their complaint was in relation to the notice of termination they received on Aug. 1, 2016, a couple weeks after Lizares assumed as mayor.
Pabiana, Necesario, Nochete, and Solayo said Lizares “whimsically and capriciously dismissed them from employment without any valid cause and due process.”
Former Talisay City mayor Eric Saratan appointed the four as regular employees at the city hall during his term.
The sacked workers said they were not afforded with a chance to defend themselves against whatever reason behind their termination despite their “untarnished and dedicated service.”
They added that they tried to talk to their respective department heads to facilitate a dialogue with Lizares but their efforts were useless.
This writer was still trying to reach Lizares for comment as of press time.
They also filed an appeal before the Civil Service Commission Region 6 in Iloilo City and the latter found that their removal from service was “not in order.”
Such finding, the complainants said, suggests that Lizares “gravely abused his power and committed oppressive conduct in performance of his office.”/PN
