ANTIQUE — The Office of Civil Defense Region 6 (OCD-6) has turned over immediate non-food relief assistance to the Provincial Government of Antique to aid families affected by recent typhoons.
Regional Director Raul Fernandez personally handed over 400 hygiene kits and 130 family packs to the Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (OPDRRMO).
Each hygiene kit contains essential personal care items such as sanitary pads, diapers, toothpaste, shampoo, bath towels, hand towels, bath soap, malong, laundry soap, combs, toothbrushes for adults and children, nail clippers, chamber pots, and cotton buds.
The family packs are equipped with kitchen and sleeping essentials including melamine plates, cooking utensils, chef’s knife, frying pan, cooking pot, pillow, pillowcase, blanket, sleeping mat, and mosquito net, all designed to help families reestablish basic household functions after displacement.
According to OPDRRMO, the list of beneficiaries is still being finalized, with priority given to households whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the typhoons.
“Nung kasagsagan ng bagyo, tinawagan ko si Gov. Javier at nabanggit niya na kailangan ng family packs, so meron naman tayong naka pre-position na. Ito muna ang i-turn over natin,” said Fernandez. He added that coordination between OCD-6 and the provincial government remains consistent to ensure prompt delivery of assistance.
OPDRRMO also requested additional support from OCD-6, particularly rice and potable water. Hernandez assured that these requests are being processed and that distribution will depend on available stock.
Gov. Paolo Javier expressed gratitude to OCD-6 for the timely assistance.
“We are thankful to the Office of Civil Defense Region 6 for their quick action and for always being ready to assist Antique, especially in times of calamities. This assistance will go a long way in helping our affected families recover and rebuild,” he said.
The provincial government of Antique continues to coordinate closely with OCD-6 to ensure the immediate needs of typhoon-affected families are met./PN
