AFTER a big-time price hike last week, oil firms will reduce pump prices beginning today.

In separate advisories yesterday, Petron, PetroGazz, CleanFuel, Seaoil, and Shell said they would slash diesel and gasoline prices by P1.80 and P1.40 per liter, respectively.

Petron, Seaoil and Shell will also reduce kerosene prices by P2.20 per liter.

Last week, fuel prices were hiked on a staggered basis to cushion the impact on Filipino consumers. Gasoline, diesel, and kerosene prices rose by P3.50, P5.20, and P4.80 per liter respectively.

The Department of Energy (DOE) announced over the weekend that four oil firms would provide fuel discounts to public utility vehicles (PUVs) and transportation network vehicle services (TNVS).

In a social media post, the DOE said Petron would provide 50 centavos up to P3 per liter discount for PUVs through its Super Driver Card program.

Shell, through its Public Transport Discount Program for GO+ members and non-members, will also provide P1 to P5 per liter discount for PUVs and P2 to P3 per liter discount for TNVS.

The DOE said Cleanfuel would likewise give discounts of P1 per liter on diesel and P2 per liter on gasoline for PUJ drivers and non-operator taxi drivers through its CLEANFUEL PASADA CARD beginning July 1.

Caltex will also implement P2.50 off on motor gas, P1.50 off on diesel, and P10 off for lubricant products for PUVs through its StarDriver program. (PNA)
