MANILA – Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla dismissed rumors about his supposed hospitalization, appearing on radio over the weekend to deny online claims and warn against the growing spread of disinformation.
Remulla addressed the issue during a live appearance on Executive Session on DZRH, where he joked that he seemed to be the first victim of online attacks at the start of 2026.
His presence on the program was meant to put to rest speculation circulating on social media since Friday about his health.
“Dinali kaagad ako!” Remulla said, as his co-hosts remarked that he was physically present in the studio and not an artificial intelligence-generated image.
While initially lighthearted, the Ombudsman later took a more serious tone, raising concerns over what he described as organized troll operations spreading false information online.
The Ombudsman further said that such activities pose a growing threat and called for stronger measures against those involved.
“‘Yung mga troll army, dapat talaga illegal ‘yan eh. There has to be something severe done to people na gumagawa ng ganoon, who take on other identities in the cyberworld,” Remulla said.
Remulla is currently leading a parallel investigation into an alleged flood control scam that has reportedly implicated several politicians./PN
