ANTIQUE – More than 1,800 barangay health workers (BHWs) and barangay nutrition scholars (BNS) in this province each received their P12,000 annual incentive.
Gov. Rhodora Cadiao led the distribution at the Binirayan Gymnasium during the 2022 Community Volunteer Health Workers’ Summit on Monday, Dec. 12.
The Antique provincial government allotted a total of P21,648,000 for the volunteers’ annual incentives.
According to Cadiao, during her first term as governor in 2015, the province’s health volunteers received around P1,500 to P2,000 each. And through Ordinance No. 2019-174, an increase from P2,000 per year to P12,000 annually was mandated.
Explained the governor, because of the efforts of volunteer health workers, the provincial government was able to address the problems brought by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Volunteers also played important roles in the implementation of Antique’s programs and projects.
“Wara gid ako nagsala nga nagpromisa ako kaninyo nga masaka ang inyo incentives kada tuig kay tungod kaninyo na overcome natun ang atun problema sa COVID-19 kag sa ano man nga mga kalamidad nga naga-abot sa atun probinsya,” the governor said.
Ma. Mildred Visuyan, BHW from Barangay Buluangan I, Valderrama town, expressed gratitude to the provincial government.
According to her, she started as a BNS in 2010 when the incentive was not that high.
Ma. Cristina S. Barrientos, BNS from Baranay Malabor, Tibiao, also thanked the provincial government. (With a report from the provincial government of Antique)/PN
