Nigos added they have initiated the “Mata sa Kalsada” program wherein police commanders in the province were ordered to strengthen police visibility on highways following the recent increase in the number of road accidents.

The NOCPPO also advised those who have vehicles to always check it first before traveling for their safety, while motorcycle riders were reminded to always wear a helmet.

Motorists were further advised not to drink and drive to avoid accidents.

For its part, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) increased its police visibility to deter criminal activities.

BCPO director Colonel Noel Aliño said he ordered police commanders to deploy cops in various churches in the city.

Barangay tanods and other force multipliers will also augment the police force in ensuring the public’s safety as well as managing traffic flow amid the holiday rush.

Aliño, meanwhile, denied that churchgoers will be checked prior to being allowed inside the church./PN
