ILOILO City – More than 2,000 employees of the Iloilo City Government, including regular workers, contract-of-service personnel, and job hires, underwent surprise drug testing on June 11 as the city intensified efforts to enforce a drug-free workplace and uphold integrity in public service.
The unannounced drug screening, conducted at City Hall, formed part of the continuing implementation of Executive Order No. 2026-037, which institutionalizes the Drug-Free Workplace Policy within the Iloilo City Government, according to Mayor Raisa Treñas’ spokesperson Joy Fantilaga-Gorzal.
The large-scale testing underscores the city government’s drive to ensure that all personnel entrusted with public service remain compliant with ethical and professional standards while supporting the broader campaign against illegal drugs.
Fantilaga-Gorzal emphasized that the initiative is a key component of the administration’s efforts to maintain accountability and professionalism among government workers “agud masiguro nga ang aton mga empleyado nagaserbisyo sa publiko nga may integridad kag responsibilidad.”
She also reiterated the city government’s commitment to strengthening programs and policies that promote employee welfare while ensuring efficient delivery of services to Ilonggos.
“Ini nga tikang nagapakita sang aton mabakod nga panindugan para sa mas matinlo, matuod, kag accountable nga pagdumala para sa tanan nga Pamilyang Ilonggo,” Fantilaga-Gorzal added.
