ILOILO – More than 3,000 job vacancies are up for grabs this July 2 at the provincial capitol lobby during the job fair sponsored by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

According to PESO head Francisco Heler Jr., 52 companies so far have signified their intention to join the job fair – 36 local and 16 overseas.

The job fair is an annual activity of the province and is conducted as a pre-activity of the celebration of the Semana sang Iloilo.

Among the companies with job vacancies are hotels and business process outsourcing companies, malls and establishments, airlines, construction, insurance, real estate,  car and automotives, direct selling and financing among others.

Heler said job orders include engineers, construction workers, information technology experts and office personnel, among others.

PESO hopes to reach the target 15 percent “hired on the spot.”

Heler advised applicants to bring the necessary credentials with them.

Job fairs are a perfect venue for job-lookers to explore simultaneously all the jobs fit for them, thus they get a big chance of being hired, Heler stressed.

The whole-day job fair, which is in coordination with the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Foreign Affairs and Philippine Health Insurance Corps, will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m./PN
