ILOILO City – In a span of just 24 hours, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) confiscated an estimated P2.1 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested four individuals in a series of anti-drug operations across Western Visayas.

From 6 a.m. on May 14 to 5:59 a.m. yesterday, various police units recovered approximately 323 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, through three separate operations.

The largest haul came from a buy-bust operation carried out by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6) around 6:40 p.m. on May 14 in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Arevalo, Iloilo City.

Authorities seized around 250 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.7 million from two suspects identified as aliases “Bogs,” 33, a resident of the said barangay, and “Stan,” 34, of Barangay Baybay Tanza, Iloilo City. Also recovered was P10,000 in buy-bust money.

PRO-6 data further showed that of those arrested, two were classified as high-value targets and the other two were tagged as street-level suspects.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky commended the operating units for their swift and coordinated efforts.

“These arrests are the results of the sustained collaborative and coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies and the community,” said Wanky. “Rest assured that your police in the region remain vigilant and committed to safeguarding our communities from the threat of illegal drugs.”

All four suspects are currently in police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
