P1.5 million worth of smuggled cigarettes seized in Antique

ANTIQUE – Police arrested four suspects and confiscated P1,527,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes during yesterday’s operation in Barangay San Fernando, San Jose de Buenavista town here.

The suspects identified as aliases “Rubin”, 33, a resident of Barangay Calaya, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras; and “Alinor”, 35, “Saipoden”, 31, and “Jamal”, 31, all residents of Barangay San Fernando, were apprehended at 12:20 a.m. by joint operatives of the Antique Maritime Police Station and San Jose Municipal Police Station.

Recovered from their possession were 47 master cases of Canon cigarettes.

Also seized were two cell phones and Isuzu delivery truck.

The suspects were detained at the San Jose MPS, facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, and RA 10643, or the Graphic Health Warning Act of 2013./PN
