ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has confiscated prohibited drugs worth approximately P129.5 million and arrested 867 drug trafficking suspects over the past six months.
From January to June, the ICPO conducted 561 operations that led to the seizure of 19,050.96 grams of shabu and the arrest of numerous drug dealers.
The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) spearheaded these efforts, capturing drugs valued at P89.6 million.
This was followed by significant confiscations by Police Station 1 and Police Station 5 in Mandurriao, which seized P18.1 million and P9 million worth of drugs, respectively.
Colonel Joeresty Coronica, outgoing director of the ICPO, commended the performance of the police chiefs under his command.
“All of our police chiefs have done well in our campaign against illegal drugs. I really appreciate their positive response to my instructions,” said Coronica.
In addition to drug-related arrests, the ICPO also made significant strides in apprehending individuals wanted for various crimes.
A total of 709 arrests were made, including 146 individuals from the top 10 most wanted list.
The police also cracked down on illegal gambling, resulting in 583 arrests across 148 operations.
Furthermore, the police force collected 274 firearms, including 16 that were surrendered during the operations, and arrested 49 individuals in connection with these recoveries.
Coronica has ordered continued vigilance and intensified operations against drug trafficking and wanted criminals.
“I have instructed my men to review their lists, especially targeting those involved in illegal drugs and those with pending cases, and to conduct further operations,” he added./PN
