ILOILO – To improve learning facilities in rural areas, the provincial government released over P23.5 million in infrastructure aid to six public schools and the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), prioritizing institutions in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
The financial assistance was distributed through the Provincial School Board (PSB) using the Special Education Fund (SEF), with Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, and PSB Secretariat Maria Alfreda Fajardo leading the handover during the flag ceremony on May 26.
The largest share, P8.8 million, was granted to Fernando Arlos Elementary School in Barangay Tambaliza, Concepcion for the construction of a three-classroom building.
Other beneficiaries include:
* Sto. Niño Elementary School in San Miguel, which received P3.5 million for the construction of a covered gym;
* Bancal National High School in Alimodian, allocated P3.4 million for another gymnasium;
* Tunga Elementary School in Barangay Cabilao Grande, Carles, awarded P5 million for a new two-classroom building;
* Binaba-an National High School in Lambunao, granted P1.6 million for land acquisition;
* Aglalaha Integrated School in Passi City, which received P294,150 for the construction and enhancement of its Gulayan sa Paaralan project.
Additionally, the PSB earmarked P1 million in support of the scouting programs of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
The classroom construction initiative is part of Governor Defensor’s flagship “Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya” (BES Probins) program, which targets the classroom shortage crisis in Iloilo’s remote schools.
Following the check distribution, PSB officials held an orientation for beneficiaries to ensure compliance with fund utilization and liquidation guidelines./PN
