ILOILO – A high-value drug target and his wife were arrested in an anti-narcotics operation in Leganes, Iloilo, yielding an estimated 330 grams of suspected shabu worth around P₱3.3 million — one of the largest drug seizures in the municipality so far this year.
The suspects, identified only by their aliases “Germon,” 41, and “Fei,” 34, were collared during a buy-bust operation at Sitio Irigasyon, Barangay Guinobatan around 9:13 p.m. on October 30.
Police said “Germon”, considered a high-value individual in the regional drug watchlist, conspired with his wife to sell a sachet of suspected shabu worth P12,000 to an undercover agent.
A subsequent search of their residence led to the recovery of eight more sachets of suspected shabu — three knot-tied and five heat-sealed — along with the marked money, additional cash believed to be proceeds of previous sales, and various paraphernalia linked to drug trafficking.
Police Brigadier General Josefin Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6, lauded the success of the coordinated operation led by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU-6) with support from the Regional Intelligence Division, Provincial Drug Enforcement Group – Special Operations Unit 6, and the Leganes Municipal Police Station.
“This accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to rid Western Visayas of the drug menace. Let this serve as a warning to those involved in illegal drug activities that PRO6 will continue to intensify its operations to ensure a safer and drug-free community,” Ligan said.
The arrested couple are now detained and face charges under Sections 5, 11, and 26 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which carry penalties of life imprisonment and fines ranging from P500,000 to P10 million.
Police urged residents to stay vigilant and assist authorities in identifying drug personalities in their areas.
