ILOILO City — Joint law enforcement teams confiscated approximately 710 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P4,828,000 during an early morning buy-bust operation on August 31 in Barangay San Isidro, La Paz district.
Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) identified the arrested as alias “Jerome,” 38, categorized as a high-value target, and alias “Garry,” 38, classified as a street-level Individual. Both suspects are residents of Jaro district.
The anti-illegal drug operation was executed by the Iloilo City Police Station 2 – Station Drug Enforcement Team at around 1:32 a.m. on Monday following weeks of target surveillance and intelligence validation in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Recovered from the suspects were two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and seven knot-tied transparent plastic bags containing suspected shabu, along with the buy-bust money and other drug-related paraphernalia.
PRO-6 director Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño highlighted the continuous drive to cut off supply lines across Western Visayas, warning distributors against operating in the region.
“Ang P4.83 milyong halaga ng hinihinalang shabu na nasamsam sa operasyong ito ay droga na hindi na makararating sa ating mga komunidad at makapipinsala sa ating mga kabataan at pamilya,” Tuaño stated. “Patunay ito na sa pamamagitan ng maayos na intelligence, validation, koordinasyon, at mahalagang impormasyong ibinibigay ng ating mga kababayan, nakakamit natin ang konkretong resulta laban sa illegal drug trade.”
Tuaño added that PRO-6 will maintain high-level operations with PDEA and local stakeholders to track down entire distribution networks.
Both suspects were detained at Iloilo City Police Station 2, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
