P500T ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod City

BACOLOD City – Suspected shabu weighing about 35 grams was recovered in an antidrug operation in Purok Cereza North, Barangay 3 last week.

The suspected illegal drugs contained in 11 sachets valued at around P500,000 were confiscated from two drug suspects Amir Ahmad Ali and Edwin Ledesma.

Ali and Ledesma – both residents of Barangay 3 – had been under surveillance for one week, police said.

Joint personnel from the Police Regional Office 6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) led by Senior Inspector Marc Joeil Reclamado and Bacolod City Police Office’s Police Station 2 staged the operation that led to the arrest of the suspects.

Ali and Ledesma were nabbed after the former sold a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover police officer around 4 a.m. on Jan. 10.

Nine sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from Ali while from Ledesma, two.

They were both detained in the lockup cell of Police Station 2 and facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The operation yielded the second biggest haul of drugs in Negros Occidental since last month.

On Dec. 5, the RDEU seized an estimated P3 million worth of shabu from a woman caught in a drug buy-bust operation at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan.

The suspect was identified as the 38-year-old Mylane Khate Arroz, who was arrested with the 23-year-old Judith Solano.

They were detained and charged for violation of RA 9165. (With a report from PNA/PN)
