P54K ‘shabu’ seized from public school teacher

ILOILO – A public school teacher is now behind bars after being apprehended during a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Villahermosa, Sara.

The teacher, identified only as “John,” 58, a resident of the barangay, allegedly sold for P1,000 a plastic sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover police officer shortly after 6 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24.

Authorities subsequently recovered approximately eight grams of the substance, valued at P54,400.

An 18-year-old named “Tam” from Barangay Igbo, Concepcion, who is believed to be an adoptee of the suspect, was also taken into custody.

Both individuals are set to face charges in accordance with the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In a related incident last week, an elementary school teacher was arrested in a similar buy-bust operation in Barangay Aguilar, San Lorenzo, Guimaras province./PN
