P5K cash aid rollout for tricycle drivers starts today; DSWD sets 5 payout sites

ILOILO City – Thousands of tricycle drivers in Western Visayas will begin receiving P5,000 cash relief assistance this Wednesday, April 8, as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) rolls out payouts across five designated sites in the region.

The DSWD Central Office announced that distribution will start as early as 7 a.m. in selected locations, prioritizing drivers from highly urbanized and component cities amid mounting economic pressures.

The designated payout sites are:

* Roxas City Civic Center, Roxas City, Capiz from 7 a.m. onwards

* Barangay MH Del Pilar Gym, Jaro, Iloilo City from 8 a.m. onwards

* City of Passi Arena, Passi City, Iloilo from 8 a.m. onwards

* Barangay Zamora-Melliza, City Proper, Iloilo City from 8 a.m. onwards

* La Paz Plaza Gym, La Paz district, Iloilo City from 8 a.m. onwards

DSWD Region 6 confirmed that the list of beneficiaries has been finalized based on submissions from local government units through their respective Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA).

“Ang opisyal na listahan ng mga tsuper ng tricycle ay mula sa validated data na isinumite ng ating mga local government units galing sa kanilang mga Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association,” the agency said in a statement.

To ensure an orderly payout process, beneficiaries are scheduled according to the first letter of their last names and must follow their assigned time slots.

The agency also issued reminders to beneficiaries: follow the assigned schedule on April 8, bring a valid original driver’s license along with one photocopy, and ensure that the name on the license matches the official list.

Drivers whose names are not included in the list may coordinate with the DSWD-LGU Help Desk stationed at payout sites for further verification and assistance.

Earlier, DSWD-6 regional director Joselito Estember said the initial rollout would prioritize drivers in Iloilo City, Passi City, Roxas City, and nearby municipalities to expedite distribution in high-demand areas./PN
