P7.9-M drugs seized, 60 arrested in weeklong anti-drug operation in WV

ILOILO City – A weeklong anti-drug operation led by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) from February 1 to 7 resulted in the seizure of 1,165 grams of suspected shabu worth P7.9 million and the arrest of 60 individuals.

The operation, which included 46 successful drug busts across the region, has been hailed as a significant step in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs.

Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky commended the police operatives for their dedication, highlighting the importance of continued efforts and collaboration in combating the drug problem.

“We applaud the relentless efforts of all personnel involved in these operations. Let us continue to sustain the strong momentum of our campaign against illegal drugs,” Wanky said.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office recorded the largest drug haul in the region, seizing drugs valued at P2 million.

The Iloilo City Police Office followed closely with P1.9 million in drugs seized, while the Capiz Police Provincial Office confiscated P1.7 million worth of illegal substances.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office led the region in arrests, apprehending 23 individuals, accounting for 33.33% of the total arrests. The Bacolod City Police Office followed with 13 arrests.

The arrested individuals are facing charges under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
