BACOLOD City – Some P94 million will be spent for a street-lighting project in this city.
The project will cover the following areas:
* along Lacson Street, from Circumferential flyover to Bacolod North Road
* Bacolod South Road, from Gonzaga Street to Barangay Sum-ag (Bago Boundary)
* along Lacson Street, from Lizares Avenue to Talisay Boundary
* along Circumferential Road North and South, from Barangay Banago to Cegasco in Barangay Tangub
Councilor Caesar Distrito said the Sangguniang Panlungsod approved on March 29 the memorandum of agreement for the project.
Under the agreement, the Department of Public Works and Highways, through the Bacolod City Engineering District, shall install the street lights while the city government shall secure and maintain them.
Distrito recalled that he authored a resolution requested then congressman Evelio Leonardia (now city mayor) for the installation of street lights in the said areas to prevent accidents and crimes. Leonardia in turn asked the Road Board to include the project in the National Road Lighting Program.
After the 2016 election, the city council again asked Rep. Greg Gasataya to help realize the project, said Distrito./PN
