Pa faces parricide rap for throwing baby

BACOLOD City – A man was arrested at his residence in Barangay Patag, Silay City, Negros Occidental after throwing his four-month old baby, police said.

The 40-year-old Marjun Cusay, detained at the Silay City police station lockup cell, faces a parricide charge.

The incident happened on Monday evening. Silay City police head Superintendent Noel Polines said Cusay went home drunk and got irked with his daughter’s crying.

Cusay then picked the baby up and threw it to his live-in partner who the police did not identify.

The live-in partner,  however, failed to catch the baby. The child hit the bamboo walls of their house head first.

Polines said the baby was brought to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City but the attending physician pronounced her “dead on arrival.”/PN
