Pa ‘hacks’ drunken son

BACOLOD City – A 71-year-old man was a suspect in the fatal hacking of his son in Sitio Bandera, Barangay Refugio, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

Restituto Cajocson turned himself in to Barangay Captain Alfredo Layague after the incident at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.

From what police investigators have gathered, Cajocson was protecting himself from his 48-year-old son Johnny who was drunk and threatening to kill him.

An inebriated Johnny just got home when he asked for tubâ (coconut wine) from his father, police said.

Cajocson gave his son what he asked for but the latter, after drinking the tubâ, struck him with an empty bottle on the head.

Cajocson ran outside and locked their door and a window to avoid Johnny but the latter destroyed the window and climbed over while shouting “Patyon jud tika (I will kill you).”

That was when Cajocson grabbed a cane cutter and hacked his son on the left side of his neck, said the police.

Johnny was taken to the San Carlos City Hospital but Dr. Romeo Agraviador, the attending physician, declared him “dead on arrival.”/PN
