MANILA – Sen. Manny Pacquiao slammed the circulation of the letter of a Dasmariñas Village barangay official ordering him and his household members to conduct self-quarantine as a violation of his privacy.

In a letter response to Barangay Dasmariñas chief Rosanna Hwang, Pacquiao said he will ask for an investigation after the letter intended for his went viral online and violated his “right to privacy.”

“It has come to my attention that your letter has been the subject of several news reports and malicious social media posts. In this regard, I wish to know how this private letter addressed to me went around social media with total disregard to my right to privacy,” Pacquiao said.

“Meantime, I will refer this matter to the appropriate agency for proper investigation to avoid the same incident from happening,” the Filipino ring icon added.

Pacquiao also “reminded” Hwang to refrain from making conclusions and also questioned the use of the word “partying” to describe the March 4 meeting of Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) at his residence, which coronavirus disease 2019 positive (COVID-19) Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III attended.

“The picture that you may have been referring to wherein I was seen interacting with Sen. Koko Pimentel and other officials, was a political meeting with PDP-Laban members in my residence. This event happened on March 4, 2020. I am sure our Dasmariñas Village guards have records of this if only a proper verification was made,” Pacquiao said.

“Let me also emphasize that it was not ‘partying’ as stated in your letter. It was a political meeting. The word ‘partying’ casts me as someone insensitive to the current crisis of the nation,” he added.

Hwang has earlier ordered Pacquiao to have his entire household quarantined and that “No one…can come out” following their close contact with Pimentel. Pacquiao over the weekend said that he was negative for COVID-19./PN

  1. With all due respect, Right to Privacy applies to Private Citizens.
But when you got elected as a government official, you are in effect waiving that right.

  2. WHY is he using an official stationary of the SENATE when the the subject matter is of personal, private matter and therefore NOT official in nature ?

”nanakot ba sya..,,, a subtle threat…, or he’s just plain IGNORANT..’

IATF Q PROTOCOLS requires ALL people in contact wd a PUI and later found positive to comply wd 2 week self-quarantine including ALL OTHER PERSONS/PEOPLE he has personal contact/inter-action.

    ”’o’ baka pati IGNORANTE sya..’

If you’ve read the letter, it was only about Hwang ordering Pacquiao and his family not to go out, hence releasing the letter to the media without his express consent was a violation of privacy.
