MANILA – A fisherman from Barangay Pawa, Panay, Capiz was still nowhere to be found as of Tuesday.
Richard Bigay, 52, went missing after setting out into the Pawa River on board a small boat on Monday.
The Philippine Coast Guard was helping search for him.
When Bigay failed to return home, his family reported to a local official who in turn reported to Coast Guard-Roxas, said Coast Guard spokesperson Armand Balilo.
Coast Guard-Roxas directed its “deployable response team” to conduct rescue operations together with police, local government and disaster management personnel, Balilo said.
“But due to unfavorable sea condition, the search and rescue operation conducted yielded negative results and was temporarily terminated on Monday,” he said. “Search will continue (on Tuesday) as the weather permits.”
Coast Guard-Roxas and fisherfolk in the barangay and nearby areas were asked to be on the lookout for Bigay, Balilo said./PN
