Pandan receives 5,000 doses of Janssen vaccine vs COVID

PANDAN, Antique – This municipality was recently given 5,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson / Janssen vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

These doses were part of the 20,000 Janssen doses that Antique got from the Department of Health (DOH), according to Gov. Rhodora Cadiao.

Just recently, DOH detected two cases of COVID-19 – Delta variant in Pandan. They were a couple; the wife died while the husband recovered.

Cadiao said contact tracing was launched and that the vaccination in Pandan must be expanded.

Mayor Plaridel Sanchez recently called for a meeting with the Municipal Health Office led by Dr. Judy Estoperez and barangay captains.

“Nagsugtanay nga ang barangay mangin agrisibo sa pagkilala it mga pumuluyo nga may sintomas agud sanda ma-isolate, mataw-an it nagakaigo nga bulong kang RHU (Rural Health Unit), kag bulig man halin sa LGU (local government unit). Dya nga tikang agud malikawan ang pagrapta it virus kag para man sa kaaraydan it tanan,” said Sanchez.

Vaccination priorities were healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities and economic frontliners.

On Monday, July 26, vaccinations covered five barangays – Mag-aba, Zaldivar, Sto. Rosario, Guia, and Jinalinan. The vaccination site was the Barangay Mag-aba covered court.

As of July 22, Pandan had 21 COVID-19 active cases. That day, the town recorded seven new cases:

* a 34-year-old male resident of Barangay Jinalinan – asymptomatic and under home quarantinel

* 33-year-old male resident of Barangay Jinalinan – asymptomatic and is under home quarantine.

* 18-year-old female resident of Barangay Buang – symptomatic and under home quarantine

* 54-year-old female resident of Barangay Zaldivar – symptomatic and hospitalized

* 70-year-old male resident of Barangay Idiacacan – symptomatic and under home quarantine

* 74-year-old male resident of Barangay Centro Sur – symptomatic and under home quarantine

* 12-year-old female resident of Barangay Luhod Bayang – symptomatic and hospitalized

These patients were swabbed between July 17 to 20 and the results were released on July 18 to 20./PN
