Panel to assess operational, personnel impact of proposed merger of traffic and public order bodies

ILOILO City – A reorganization of Iloilo City’s traffic and public safety operations is under review as the Sangguniang Panlungsod formed an ad hoc committee to study the proposed merger of two key offices.

The special panel will assess the operational, administrative and personnel implications of consolidating the Traffic and Transportation Management Office (TTMO) and the Public Order and Safety Management Office (POSMO).

Councilor Sedfrey Cabaluna will chair the committee, with Councilor Jose Maria “Nene” Dela Llana as vice chairperson and Councilor Alan Zaldivar as member.

The City Council created the panel after approving a resolution referring for further study a proposed ordinance authored by Councilor Rex Marcus Sarabia.

The measure seeks to merge the TTMO, which is under the Office of the City Mayor, with POSMO and reorganize the resulting office’s structure and staffing pattern.

During the council’s regular session, Cabaluna accepted his designation and assured that the committee would thoroughly examine the proposed consolidation before making its recommendations.

Dela Llana also accepted his election as vice chairperson, while Zaldivar volunteered to join the committee.

The panel will conduct a comprehensive review of the proposal before submitting its findings and recommendations to the City Council./PN
