ILOILO – Three family members lost their lives after a pickup truck collided with their motorcycle at the boundary of barangays Canas and Tamangi in San Dionisio town on Saturday evening.
The victims were Armando Asupra (estimated to be around 60 years old), his wife Rosmarie (about 50 years old), and their 15-year-old daughter, Angelie. The Asupras were residents of Barangay Cubay, San Dionisio.
Authorities said pickup driver Tony Clarito was a 26-year-old businessman from Calinog, Iloilo.
He was driving a Toyota Hilux from Calinog town en route to Estancia for a scheduled business meeting, according to San Dionisio police chief, Police Captain Eduard Villanes.
Initial police investigation showed that the pickup attempted to overtake a Bajaj motorcycle carrying the Asupras.
The motorcycle was dragged for approximately 100 meters.
The pickup truck did not stop, with Clarito later surrendering at the Batad municipal police station.
Khelsy Ann Asupra, the remaining daughter of Armando and Rosmarie, took to Facebook to express her overwhelming grief. Her emotional post read: “Lord ngaaaaaa!!!????? Tatlo gdddd. Paano na? Paano ko mabaton? Wala na tanan mama koooooo, papaaaa, angeee? Paano nako d? Paano nako nga wala kamo? Pano na tanan nga handum ta? Para sa ano pa nga nabuhi kag nabilin ko sa kalibutan nga ni kun wala na kamo. I cannot imagine my life nga wala ang maski isa sa inyo, tapos amo pa ni ang matabo. TATLO gd kamo ubos na, wala na tanan sa akon, daw pareho lg nga napatay nlg man ko tungod sang sakit nga gakabtygan ko subong MA? PA? GE? I LOVE YOUUUU SO MUCH! tinguhaon ta nga makuha ang hustisya para sa inyo. I LOVE YOU, MY ANGELS!”
The post has garnered an outpouring of sympathy and support from the local community, with many sharing their condolences and demanding justice for the victims.
The incident is currently under investigation, with authorities seeking to determine the full circumstances leading to the crash. The pickup driver faces charges related to reckless driving./PN
