MANILA – Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and Nagoya Diamond Dolphins recovered with a 100-90 beating of Gunma Crane Thunders in the 2021-2022 Japan B.League at the Ota City Athletic Park Citizen’s Gymnasium.
The Filipino-American guard tallied 12 points, 10 coming in the opening half, to go with five rebounds, two assists and a steal on Sunday.
The Diamond Dolphins returned to their winning ways for a 6-5 record.
Parks, who previously played for TNT Tropang Giga in the PBA before taking his act to Japan, was also defensively effective for the Diamond Dolphins. He locked down Crane Thunders star Aki Chambers, who was held to eight points.
Coty Clarke spearheaded the Diamond Dolphins’ offense with 18 points. Takumi Saito chipped in 17 points and seven assists, while Scott Eatherton contributed 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Justin Keenan finished the match with 21 points and eight rebounds. Trey Jones chipped in 19 points as the Crane Thunders slumped to 4-7 record after failing to score a follow up to its win over Diamond Dolphins last Saturday.
Meanwhile, Ilonggo Kiefer Ravena had a double-double effort but was not enough as Shiga Lakestars suffered an 89-83 defeat over defending champions Chiba at the Funabashi Arena.
Ravena waxed hot offensively with 27 points, on 11-of-16 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point line, with 10 assists and three steals as the Lakestars dropped to 6-5 win-loss slate.
Kiefer’s younger brother Ferdinand “Thirdy” Ravena suffered the same fate. San-En NeoPhoenix bowed to Shibuya, 91-80, despite his 13 points, 11 coming in the fourth quarter.
In other results, Dwight Ramos struggled with eight points, seven rebounds and two assists as Toyama Grousers bowed to Kawasaki Brave Thunders, 87-74, at the Kawasaki City.
Kobe Paras, on the other hand, was held to a season-low five points. Niigata Albirex BB suffered its eighth consecutive defeat with a 71-63 loss to Ryukyu at the City Hall Plaza Aore Nagaoka./PN
