MANILA – Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and Nagoya Diamond Dolphins claimed one of their biggest wins in the 2021-22 Japan B.League. It defeated Ryukyu Golden Kings, 81-80, at the Okinawa Arena.
The former TNT Tropang Giga star tallied 12 points and five rebounds as the Diamond Dolphins got back on the winning track to improve to 27-13 in the standings.
But it was Scott Eatherton who carried the scoring cudgels for the Diamond Dolphins in the fourth period on Sunday. They erased a 73-62 Golden Kings advantage.
Eatherton went on a barrage, scoring 10 points in a blistering 18-8 endgame run for Nagoya, including two free throws with eight seconds left that served as the game-winning points.
Eatherton ended up with 24 points and seven rebounds. Takumi Saito added 14 points and seven assists, while Cody Clarke tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for Nagoya.
Jack Cooley tallied 17 points and nine rebounds while Ruichi Kishimoto got 15 points as the Golden Kings saw their 13-game winning run snapped to drop to 43-5.
Meanwhile, Javi Gomez de Liano had his best game for the Ibaraki Robots but they still suffered a 107-77 defeat to Yokohama B-Corsairs at the Hitachi City Ikenokawa Sakura Arena.
The former University of the Philippines Fighting Maroon scored a career-high 14 points, including four triples, to go with three assists, a rebound, and an assist in 23 minutes.
The 6-foot-5 guard had a lengthier playing time in this game as Ibaraki only had eight players in the contest as the team had struggled with the COVID-19 outbreak in the city.
Chehales Tapscott paced Ibaraki with 23 points and eight rebounds while Eric Jacobsen got 15 points as they slumped to 13-32. Yokohama rose to 18-31 in the standings.
In other results, Ilonggo Kiefer Ravena and Shiga Lakestars absorbed a 100-73 loss to Hokkaido Levanga, while Dwight Ramos and Toyama Grouses bowed to Utsonomiya, 89-63./PN
