Parts of Iloilo city and province to experience brownout on Jan. 23

ILOILO City – A power interruption was scheduled in the city and province of Iloilo on Tuesday, Jan. 23, from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m., as part of the contingency measure for the Dinagyang Festival celebration.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Jan. 21, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the affected are the following:

* MORE Electric and Power Corporation’s (MORE Power) Molo Mobile substation and Megaworld substation

* Global Business Power Corp. – Meralco PowerGen Corp.’s (GBP MGEN) Panay Power Corporation 1 and Banuyao

* Iloilo Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ILECO) 1’s Pavia substation

NGCP said the power interruption would give way to corrective maintenance activities at customer-owned GBP MGEN’s La Paz 1 substation (PPC 1) as a contingency during the upcoming Dinagyang highlights.

It added that the specific affected areas would be determined by the distribution utility and electric cooperative.

“We will exert our efforts to restore power earlier or as scheduled,” NGCP further assured.

Yesterday, MORE Power has also implemented a six-hour scheduled power interruption, or from 6 a.m. to 12 noon, as part of its Dinagyang contingency plan.

The affected was portion of Megaworld Feeder 4 in Mandurriao district, wherein Ungka, Jaro (old railway) experienced power interruption.

MORE Power removed the 40-footer wood pole and transferred the 1-50kVA distribution transformer (common) to new 50-footer concrete pole.

Other reasons for the power interruption were: transferring of 1-37.5kVA distribution transformer (private) to existing 50-footer concrete pole, retirement of 1-#1/0 ACSR primary line, and stringing of one span 1-#1/0 ACSR primary line./PN
