MANILA – The PBA is set to press charges against a basketball fan wearing Spider-Man costume that intruded in the middle of the Game 5 of the 2019 Honda PBA Philippine Cup finals between Magnolia Hotshots and San Miguel Beermen on Friday night.

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said they are determined to file cases against the intruder, who still refused to reveal his name before the police officers of Quezon City Police District Station 7 as of Saturday.

Sigurado kakasuhan namin,” Marcial said in a press conference after Game 5 last Friday. “Hindi pa namin alam ang ikakaso pero napag-usapan na ng legal yan, baka dalawa.”

The game was disrupted midway in the fourth quarter when the man clad in a Spider-Man costume stormed to the court and bumped into Beermen center June Mar Fajardo, who was down on the floor for several minutes.

The assailant was immediately accosted by the securities of Smart Araneta Coliseum and was brought to the police station along with two companions Flenn John Lola and Rayahn Paredes.

When quizzed by the police officers, the unnamed Spider-Man intruder said he just wanted to send a message to the Filipinos with the 2019 midterm elections happening tomorrow.

Gusto ko lang po mag-send ng message. Eleksyon po kasi,” the unidentified man said. “Gusto ko lang pong magmahalan tayo. Gusto ko lang magmahalan tayo, ‘yun lang, wala ng iba po.”

Seized from the intruder were several yellow papers inscribed with “Vote Love”, “Heal the Philippines”, “God Bless Us All”, “Our Future is in Our Hands”, “Vote Wisely this May 13”, “Peace for Philippines”, “Love Philippines”, “Vote from the Heart”, and “Support PBA.”/PN
