MANILA – Bacolodnon guard Luis Alfonso ‘LA’ Revilla will have a homecoming of sorts after being traded back to the NorthPort Batang Pier by the Phoenix Fuel Masters over the weekend.

In a trade deal that was submitted to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Office on Monday, Revilla and reserve forward Rey Guevarra are headed to Northport in swap of the veteran Solomon ‘Sol’ Mercado.

It is indeed a homecoming of sorts for the former De La Salle University Green Archers guard Revilla after starting his professional career with the NorthPort franchise before suiting up for Colombian Dyip and Phoenix.

Prior to his trade, Revilla has signed a six-month contract with Phoenix, as he just returned from a surgery that removed bone spurs on his foot that ruled him out of the entire Governors’ Cup season.

Also for Guevarra, the trade was a return route for the 33-year-old after playing for the NorthPort franchise from 2012 to 2013. He also played for Air 21 Express, San Miguel Beermen, Meralco Bolts, and Dyip before returning.

Mercado, meanwhile, found himself on the move again after being traded by the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings just midway in the 2019 PBA season to the Batang Pier.

Mercado, who has yet to sign a new contract before the trade, was the second guard to be acquired by the Fuel Masters after taking Brian Heruela from the Blackwater Elite last week in exchange for Ron Dennison./PN
