MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio claimed she has a list of at least five impeachable offense of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. but she knew a case will not prosper at the House of Representatives.

Of course, hindi,” she said.

The Vice President said the country is “on this road to hell” since President Marcos does not know how to run it.

In a press conference on Friday, Duterte-Carpio said if she is to be asked to rate President Marcos’ performance, where 10 is the highest, she will give him 1.

“Hindi ko kasalanan that we’re on this road to hell. Hindi marunong maging presidente ang nakaupo. Kasalanan ko ba ‘yun? Hindi,” the Vice President said.

“Kasi kung alam mo naman na may kakulangan ka, bibilisan mo ‘yung gagawin mo para mag-catch up. Hindi ka naman uupo lang doon,” Duterte-Carpio added.

Duterte-Carpio also admitted that she knew she was used by the Marcoses for BBM to win the presidency, but has no regrets teaming up with him and running as his vice.

“Senator Imee (Marcos) called me asking if I can run as BBM’s running mate, sabi ko, ‘Bakit mo ako nire-request?’ She was honest enough to say, ‘Kasi matatalo kami ni Leni (Robredo) kung hindi mo dalhin ang Bisaya,’” Duterte-Carpio said.

“(But) I don’t regret running as Vice President. Imagine niyo kung mayor ako, hinahabol nila ako ngayon. Napakadali nila akong i-suspend, napakadali nila akong kasuhan, napakadali na tanggalin nila ako. Ngayon, hindi nila ako matanggal,”she added.

Duterte-Carpio also shrugged off President Marcos’ recent remark on their supposed “friendship”, saying government officials’ personal feelings should no longer be important.

“Noong narinig ko iyang deception, naisip ko pa, hindi ko na siya sasagutin... For the love of God, presidente ka na. Importante pa ba yung nararamdaman mo?” she said.

“Talagang may panahon kang mag-isip sa deception ng isang babae d’yan? Ang dami mong oras,” she added. “Pakialam natin sa nararamdaman ng President at saka Vice President di ba?”

“Hindi ba dapat iniisip mo yung mga taong gutom, yung presyo ng gasolina, yung darating na Christmas kung sinong maka-afford ng spaghetti, mango float, mga importante sa Noche Buena,” Duterte-Carpio further said.

The Marcos-Duterte tandem, dubbed as UniTeam, won overwhelmingly in the 2022 elections, with Marcos getting 31 million votes and Duterte 32 million.

Cracks in the Marcos and Duterte-Carpio partnership began to show in 2023 when the leadership of the House of Representatives under Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez – Marcos’ cousin – removed former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as senior deputy speaker. The Vice President responded by bolting Lakas-CMD, Romualdez’s party.

Duterte-Carpio was then stripped off her confidential funds by the Romualdez-led House under the 2024 national budget.

Earlier this year, former President Rodrigo Duterte accused President Marcos of using illegal drugs in a prayer rally in Davao City. His allegations were denied by the President.

First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos then said in an interview that Duterte-Carpio was a “bad shot” to her after she was caught on camera laughing while her father attacked the President in a Davao event last January.

Duterte-Carpio then tendered her resignation from her Cabinet posts in Department of Education (DepEd) and National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC)./PN
