MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said he is steadily regaining strength following a short period of medical treatment, assuring the public that his condition is not serious and is now under control.

In a video message, Marcos said doctors were optimistic about his recovery after closely monitoring him for several days. He explained that he was placed on a limited diet, which contributed to temporary weakness.

“Ako naman, eto, nagre-recover. Maganda ang assessment ng mga doktor, nothing serious. Kailangan lang magpalakas ulit,” the President said.

He added that the restricted diet caused him to lose some weight, joking that the experience felt like being on a weight-loss program.

“Mabuti na ‘yan at para akong nag-diyeta,” the Chief Executive said.

Malacañang earlier revealed that Marcos was diagnosed with diverticulitis, a condition involving inflammation in the colon, after he was taken to the hospital and kept overnight for observation on January 21.

Following his doctors’ advice, the President temporarily reduced his public appearances outside the Palace, though he continued to carry out official work, including reviewing documents and holding meetings.

Palace officials have also rejected rumors of any deterioration in Marcos’ health, maintaining that he remains fit to perform the duties of his office./PN
