MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has encouraged Filipinos to maintain their resilience and optimism in the face of life’s challenges, drawing inspiration from the example set by Jesus Christ.
In a statement released on Palm Sunday, Marcos urged the nation to reflect on the Lord’s example of compassion and selflessness, as a way to honor the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“Like Christ, may we remain resilient and optimistic in life, despite all the challenges that come our way. May all the adversities that we face shape us into better persons, capable of understanding and charity towards our brethren,” the Chief Executive said.
“We are comforted by the triumph of Easter, which uncovered the success of the Lord’s ultimate sacrifice. May the realization that a loving God embraced humanity to be with us inspire perseverance through tribulations and be an encouragement to our brothers and sisters,” he added.
The President expressed his wish for Filipinos to find renewed strength in the company of their family and loved ones during this Holy Week.
This year’s Holy Week will continue until April 19, which is Black Saturday, followed by Easter Sunday on April 20, a day when Christendom commemorates the resurrection of Jesus.
According to Proclamation 727 released by Malacañang, April 17 (Maundy Thursday) and April 18 (Good Friday) are designated as regular holidays, while April 19 (Black Saturday) is recognized as a special non-working day./PN
