MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio separately urged the graduating members of the Philippine Military Academy “Talang Dangal” Class of 2026 to remain loyal to the nation, uphold integrity, and stand firm in defending Philippine sovereignty amid evolving security and political challenges.
During the commencement exercises at Fort General Gregorio H. del Pilar in Baguio City, Marcos reminded the new military officers that their allegiance must be anchored on the Republic and not on political personalities or ideologies.
“As you take your oath today, remember that your loyalty is not to any political interest, not to any individual, nor any passing ideology. Your loyalty must always remain with the Republic of the Philippines,” Marcos said.
The President also emphasized the importance of discernment, discipline, and honor as the graduates prepare to confront modern security threats and misinformation.
“Your ability to discern truth from deception is crucial to making sound decisions. But beyond your skills, the true strength of a soldier will always be rooted in integrity, discipline, and honor,” he added.
In a separate video message, Duterte-Carpio congratulated the graduates and called on them to embody courage and integrity throughout their military service.
“Be the bearers of our nation’s pride, honor, and dignity. I urge you to personify integrity and courage at all times. Stand firm against all threats to our sovereignty and our liberties. Do not waver, even in the face of the most difficult challenges,” Duterte-Carpio said.
The Vice President described the graduates’ completion of military training as “the culmination of a rigorous journey—one defined by discipline, sacrifice, and an unwavering sense of duty.”
She also encouraged the new officers to dedicate their training and service to protecting the Filipino people and safeguarding the country.
“May your service be a testament to your determination to protect our country and uphold the welfare of every Filipino,” Duterte-Carpio said./PN
