MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) yesterday said criminal complaints have been slapped against the shipping company, master and officers of the Hong Kong-flagged cargo vessel that collided with a Philippine fishing boat off Mindoro last week.

PCG spokesperson Armand Balilo said that reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and damage to property complaints have been filed before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Occidental Mindoro.

The PCG official added that search and retrieval operations for the 14 missing fishermen will be terminated by Tuesday.

“The full search and retrieval operations to aid the 14 victims of the sea collision in the waters off Tayamaan, Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro will continue until Tuesday, July 7, 2020,” Balilo said.

“On Tuesday, the surface search will be terminated, but the PCG-Mamburao SAR team and the other rescue teams will continue in actively monitoring the area,” he added.

The collision between the foreign vessel Vienna Wood with Philippine fishing boat Liberty 5 happened at 10:20 p.m. of June 27./PN
