PCSO Celebrates First-Ever National Day of Charity

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) is optimistic that the National Day of Charity celebration on October 30 will be a rousing success.

This, after the event drew enthusiastic participation from various government and non-government organizations across the country. 

It aims to foster a culture of giving and community support, encouraging citizens to engage in charitable activities that uplift those in need.

129 NEW AMBULANCES. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles lead the turnover of 129 new patient transport vehicles to various local government units during a ceremony at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila on September 10. This initiative raises the total number of patient transport vehicles released to local government units through the PCSO’s Medical Transport Vehicle donation program to 474.
PCSO’S GOODWILL AMBASSADORS. In celebration of its 90th anniversary, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) relaunches its chorale with a special concert titled “Celebrating Our Milestones” on October 11, at the GSIS Theater in Pasay City. The Chorale serves as the agency’s Ambassadors of Goodwill, continuing to enhance the PCSO’s positive corporate image through captivating musical performances.
NEW PCSO DRAW FACILITY. PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles, alongside other officials, on August this year signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the construction of a backup draw court facility in Clark, Pampanga.

As the government’s charity arm, the PCSO is responsible for leading, coordinating, and supervising the observance of the National Day of Charity, which involves identifying programs, activities, and projects for the celebration.

In collaboration with numerous organizations, the event is expected to unite individuals, families, and communities in raising awareness about the importance of helping those in need. 

General Manager Melquiades Robles expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from various stakeholders.

“The response has been incredible,” Robles stated.

“We are thrilled to see so many organizations come together to have a positive impact on our communities through various charitable activities.”

The event also serves as an opportunity for individuals and groups to reflect on the significance of giving back.

Participating organizations have planned a range of activities designed to engage and inspire people to contribute to the betterment of society.

From volunteer days and fundraising events to educational outreach and awareness campaigns, the event promises to showcase diverse ways communities can support one another.

Robles emphasized the spirit of collaboration that has emerged in the preparation for this day.

“This isn’t just about fundraising; it’s about fostering a community spirit that encourages generosity and kindness, ” he said.

GM Robles continued: “Many organizations are hosting activities that will not only benefit those in need, but also create bonding experiences for volunteers.” 

X-RAY MACHINES FOR SOLDIERS’ HOSPITAL. As a show of appreciation for their services and sacrifices, PCSO recently donated seven mobile X-ray machines to the Army General Hospital to support the healthcare needs of soldiers.
CHARITY SUMMIT. In celebration of the International Day of Charity, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) held a Charity Summit at the Manila Hotel on September 5. The event’s theme, “Building Bridges through Partnership and Cooperation with Charitable Institutions,” was attended by nearly 200 individuals from various government agencies, charitable institutions, and other organizations.
CHARITY RUN. A total of 1,715 individuals participated in the PCSO’s inaugural Charity Run at the Makati Ayala Triangle on October 20. The event celebrated the National Day of Charity, which coincides with the Agency’s 90th anniversary.

Robles then invited everyone to join in the celebration and make a difference.

He was also optimistic that the event will become an annual celebration that not only raises awareness for charitable causes, but also strengthens the bonds among all benefactors, stakeholders and beneficiaries.

LOYALTY AWARDEES. As part of its 90th anniversary, the PCSO honored recipients of the Service Loyalty Awards, as well as the Best Employee and Best Organizational Unit Awards, on October 28.
P1.1-B CONTRIBUTION. PCSO General Manager Melquiades A. Robles turns over checks amounting to P1.1 – B to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation on Thursday, Oct. 10, at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong. Under the law, the PCSO is required to remit a portion of its revenue as contribution to local government units and other government agencies.
FIRST FILIPINO AT APLA EXECUTIVE BOARD. Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office General Manager Melquiades Robles is joined by Mr. John Teo, President, Asia Pacific Lottery Association Limited (APLA). The picture was taken shortly after GM Robles was elected as the first Filipino member of the Executive Board of APLA during the 2024 Regional Conference held last September 2-5 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
