MANILA – A total of P45.68 billion worth of narcotics have so far been seized under the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
Confiscated illegal drugs from July 2022 to June 30 this year included 5,945.67 kg of shabu, 74.60 kg of cocaine, 105,873 ecstasy tablets and 5,064.68 kg of marijuana.
Meanwhile, 28,899 out of 42,000 barangays in the country have been declared “drug-cleared” in the same period, and 6,617 are still being cleared by authorities.
“These barangays have reached drug-cleared status after the issuance of a certification by members of the oversight committee on the barangay drug-clearing program,” the PDEA said.
PDEA data also showed 101,757 drug suspects were arrested, including total of 6,508 high-value targets across the country during 74,832 anti-illegal drug operations.
Authorities also dismantled 1,053 drug dens and a clandestine shabu laboratory during the same period.
During his third State of the Nation Address on Monday, President Marcos pledged to continue the bloodless campaign against illegal drugs in the country.
He also said extermination is never a part of his administration’s anti-drug campaign, unlike the “war on drugs” of his predecessor, former President Rodrigo Duterte./PN
