Pedestrian killed after being hit by pickup in Dingle

ILOILO — A 52-year-old man was killed after he was hit by a pickup while crossing the road in Barangay Tinocuan, Dingle, Iloilo, at about 5:45 p.m. on August 8.

The victim, identified only by the alias “Rey,” a resident of Barangay Buenavista, Dingle, sustained multiple injuries from the impact.

The pickup was driven by alias “Al,” 38, of Dasmariñas, Cavite, according to Police Capt. Alwin Salmon, officer-in-charge of the Dingle Municipal Police Station.

Salmon said the vehicle was traveling from Pototan toward Passi City when the accident occurred.

Initial police investigation showed that the victim was crossing the road when he was struck by the approaching vehicle. The impact threw him onto the road, causing multiple injuries.

The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The driver was taken into custody at the Dingle Municipal Police Station while police awaited the victim’s family’s decision on whether to file charges./PN
