
MANILA – Petron Blaze Spikers notched its third win in the 2019 Philippine Superliga Invitationals by crushing the Marinerang Pilipina Lady Skippers, 25-17, 25-18, 25-13, at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Laguna.
Cherry Rondina top-scored with 18 points, on 17 attacks and a block, to go along with 14 excellent digs on Tuesday night.
With the win, the Blaze Spikers surged to solo first place in Pool B standings (3-0).
Chlodia Cortez, Mary Remy Palma and Toni Rose Basas chipped in seven markers each while setter Angel Legacion distributed 18 excellent sets.
Petron was last year’s runner-up.
Caitlyn Viray spearheaded Marinerang Pilipina on offense with seven points. Nica Gulliman managed six markers, while Judith Abil was limited down to just five points. They dropped to 0-3.
Meanwhile, defending champions F2 Logistics Cargo Movers recovered from a set down to score a 15-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-14 victory over the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers and improve to 2-1 slate.
Kim Kianna Dy finished with double-double 14 points and 11 excellent digs. Victorinara Galang had 13 markers and Desiree Cheng and Mary Joy Baron tallied 11 markers each for the Cargo Movers.
In the other match, Cignal HD Spikers made a short work of the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors, 25-18, 25-23, 25-14. Mylene Paat delivered 12 points as the HD Spikers topped Pool A with 3-0 slate./PN
