
JORDAN, Guimaras – Dr. Jack Pharmacy and Clinic in Barangay San Miguel here is on lockdown. Its staff had direct contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The lockdown took effect on Feb. 16. It would remain “until further notice”, Mayor Ruben Corpuz’s Executive Order No. 13, Series of 2021 stated.
The confirmed case was a male from Nueva Valencia, Guimaras and confined at a private hospital in Iloilo City.
This case’s wife died of suspected COVID-19 while being treated at the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital on Feb. 16.
“A thorough contact tracing will be implemented and all direct contacts shall be swabbed and would undergo home quarantine,” according to Corpuz.
The mayor also ordered the following:
1. All individuals in the said location (pharmacy) are not allowed to go out and shall undergo strict home quarantine for 14 days.
2. Only health personnel from the Municipal Health Team are allowed to contact the individuals in this location for constant monitoring.
3. Food supply will be provided by the municipal government of Jordan in the duration of the lockdown.
As of Feb. 17, Jordan’s confirmed COVID-19 cases (cumulative) reached 96, of which 87 already recovered while four died, thereby leaving the town with only five active cases.
The four deaths were in Barangay Rizal (two), Barangay Maravilla (one) and Barangay San Miguel (one)./PN
