CAPIZ — A collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening benefit protection and transparency was recently carried out in Capiz through a Liveness Check dry run for the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PhilHealth) YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program) and GAMOT (Guaranteed Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment) programs.
The activity was conducted in several health facilities, including the Dumalag Super Health Center in Dumalag, Optiquest Inspira Ventures Incorporated in Barangay Diniginan, and the Sapian Rural Health Unit in the municipality of Sapian.
The Liveness Check initiative seeks to verify that eligible beneficiaries are alive and are personally availing themselves of medical services from accredited YAKAP clinics and GAMOT pharmacies before any financial claims are processed by PhilHealth.
Officials said the verification process is vital in safeguarding the integrity of benefits and preventing fraudulent claims. By utilizing digital technology for identity validation, the program aims to enhance transparency and ensure that health benefits are released to legitimate members.
During the GAMOT Program dry run, systems and coordination mechanisms among healthcare providers were tested, including readiness protocols designed to streamline the dispensing of essential medications and delivery of outpatient services.
As a result of the initiative, members assigned to the Dumalag Super Health Center and Optiquest Inspira Ventures Inc. now have access to 75 types of medications available through accredited GAMOT pharmacies.
Beneficiaries under the Sapian Rural Health Unit may also obtain their prescribed medicines from H&E Pharmacy, located in Sapian, Capiz.
The initiative received strong support from local government officials and healthcare stakeholders, reflecting a shared commitment to delivering transparent, secure, and accessible health services to residents of Capiz.
