THE PHILIPPINE Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) successfully conducted PULSE (Promoting UHC through Linkages, Synergy and Engagement) which is a gathering of key stakeholders in the region to share experiences, best practices and insights aimed at strengthening the delivery of universal healthcare.
“With this activity being spearheaded by PhilHealth, we will be able to share the best practices the hospitals have as well as the different LGUs (local government units). We will be able to reach the point wherein every member is protected and we can only do that when each and everyone of us is doing its share,” said Bacolod City’s Mayor Greg Gasataya.
This activity provided a venue for hospitals to share best practices on how they become benchmarks of performance.
Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital and Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital shared successful initiatives implemented in their respective facilities underscoring the value of collective earning and coordinated function.
The highlight of the event was the awarding of Certificates of Accreditation to 26 pharmacies under the PhilHealth GAMOT (Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment).
Under the PhilHealth GAMOT, members and dependents can access medicines covering 75 common illnesses with an annual limit of P20,000. These pharmacies will provide medicines to eligible PhilHealth members and dependents.
“Access to medicine remains to be one of the biggest pressures of the Filipino families and this program directly eases that burden. For us in the NIR, it reinforces our access pillar ensuring people get the right care at the right time without unnecessary delay or financial hardship,” said Dr. Razel Nikka Hao of the Negros Island Region Center for Health and Development.
Lazaro Tabsing, PhilHealth Regional Office 6 Acting Regional Vice-President, re-affirmed his dedication to strengthen collaboration with partners ensuring that PhilHealth programs remain responsive to the needs of members and stakeholders alike.
“I thank PhilHealth for the innovations that you are doing now. We know that PhilHealth is helping the Filipino people. We assure you that we are here to support to improve more our partnership,” said Mayor Gasataya.
The event was graced by Dr. Von Aposaga from the Office of the Governor of Negros Occidental, chiefs of hospitals, hospital accountants, city and municipal health officers, and LGU partners at Citadines Hotel in Bacolod City./PN
