ILOILO – The recovery rate of patients infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reached 83.61 percent in this province.
The Provincial Health Office’s (PHO) data as of Nov. 29 showed a total of 2,691 people confirmed infected, with 2,250 of them fully recovering and being released from quarantine.
This left the number of active cases being monitored at 362, or 29.71 percent, according to PHO head Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon.
As to the case classification of the active cases, 37 were mild, 69 were severe and 256 were asymptomatic.
Most of them were nearing completion of the 14-day quarantine, Quiñon said.
Meanwhile, most of the province’s COVID-19 infections were local cases at 2,084, followed by locally stranded individuals at 361; returning overseas Filipinos (217) and Authorized Person Outside Residence (29).
PHO’s data also revealed that of the 2,084 local cases, 924 had exposure to confirmed COVID-19 cases and 1,160 with unknown history of exposure.
The 10 municipalities with the most number of COVID-19 cases were Oton (291 with six deaths); Pavia (240 with four deaths); Passi City (170 with two deaths); Santa Barbara (117 with five deaths); Guimbal (100 with two deaths); Tigbauan (99 with two deaths); Cabatuan (91 with four deaths); San Joaquin (88 with three deaths); Miag-ao (84 with two deaths); and Barotac Viejo (80 with two deaths).
Quiñon reiterated her appeal to the public to practice the “3Ms strategy” (Magmaskara, Manghinaw, kag Magdistansya).
“We will never get tired reminding everyone to stay safe and the best way to stay safe is to practice the 3Ms strategy. These are the simplest ways to not bring home the virus,” Quiñon said./PN
