Pia on portraying Filipina superhero Wave: ‘Why not?’

HAVING effectively portrayed a heroine role in the 2017 film “Gandarrapiddo!: The Revenger Squad,” it comes as no surprise that fans clamor for beauty queen-turned-actress Pia Wurtzbach to represent Marvel’s first Filipina superhero Wave.

For the Miss Universe 2015 herself, it would be a dream come true to be chosen for the character shall a film adaptation of its upcoming series “War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas” – where Wave and other Asian superheroes will make its debut this May – take place sometime in the future. “Definitely,” said Pia when asked by ABS-CBN News of the idea on Tuesday. “If there’s gonna be an audition for it, I’m gonna try for that. Why not, di ba?”

The Filipino-German stunner has previously said that to portray a superhero, aside from being a kontrabida, has always been her dream role as an actress. Her viral interview with Captain Marvel star Brie Larson early this month served as a reminder, with her plans of possibly leaving for Hollywood also coming into focus. “Well, that dream is still there, I’m still trying to pursue my dream. I know that I still have a long way to go. Definitely have to gain more experience here in the Phlippines before I can try abroad,” she said.

Aside from Pia, former Darna actress Angel Locsin is also being vied to represent Wave.

However, Marvel has yet to announce talks of a big screen adaptation featuring their only Filipina heroine, or any of the new Asian characters included in the same series. (ABS-CBN News)
