MANILA – Philippine representatives Nikko Huelgas and Kim Mangrobang bagged gold medals in the men’s and women’s triathlon, respectively, of the 29th Southeast Asian Games yesterday.

Huelgas retained the men’s triathlon title, clocking 1:59:30 (0:20:57 in swimming, 1:00:00 in cycling and 0:37:51 in running) at the Water Sports Complex in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Fellow Filipino John Chicano trailed behind with 2:01:27.

Mangrobang, meanwhile, gave the Philippines its second gold of the day with a 2:11:14 clocking in the women’s event. Fellow Philippine rep Claire Adorna – the 2015 gold medalist – settled for a silver medal with 2:18:58.
