BACOLOD City – A man suspected of trying to swindle a businesswoman in EB Magalona, Negros Occidental was arrested around 11 a.m. yesterday.
The suspect was caught in the middle of his transaction with Myrna Gemal but the police declined disclose his name while the investigation was going on.
Gemal was engaged in the construction materials business. Police said the suspect was trying to strike a P22-million deal with her – a 2-hectare volcanic filling material in Hacienda Lulubcan, Silay City.
Gemal was told by the suspect that the operation would start on Feb. 18, 2017 upon payment of 30 percent of the contract price.
The businesswoman, however, became suspicious when the man asked her for a P1,000 fare.
She secretly called for police assistance, said Senior Inspector Bonifacio Aral, EB Magalona police chief.
Aral said the suspect may have victimized more in other parts of Negros Occidental.
The suspect was apprehended in the house of Gemal and was detained at the EB Magalona police station./PN
