ILOILO – Two separate incidents of robbery in two universities alarmed the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, provincial police director, ordered police units to intensify intelligence monitoring of robbery groups.
“They must also coordinate with barangay officials,” added Tayaba.
On May 23, robbers ransacked the Dumangas, Iloilo campus of the Iloilo City-based Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) in Barangay PD Monfort.
The robbers entered the cashier’s office and carted away P470,000 kept in vault.
The robbery was discovered by Baltazar Depaloma, 42, assistant administrative officer.
On June 3, West Visayas State University’s (WVSU) campus in Lambunao town was looted.
School security guard Rexan Lopez discovered the robbery. The finance and registrar’s offices were forcibly opened.
Around P11,000 cash was taken away.
