Popular volleyball team to play in Iloilo?

BLIND ITEM: Ilonggo volleyball fans will surely be in for a treat. A popular volleyball team is set to play in an exhibition game with a still undetermined squad in Iloilo City soon.

A source told the Buzzer Beater the volleyball squad, which has a huge fan base in Iloilo, has verbally agreed to an Ilonggo event organizer for an exhibition match, which they will use to prepare for their future tournament.

“Nag-verbally agree na ‘yung volleyball team na maglaro magpipirmahan na lang sila ng organizer,” the source said. “One thing is for sure, matutuwa ang mga Ilonggo volleyball fans diyan.”

“Actually, matagal na nilang wini-wish na maglaro sa Iloilo ‘yung volleyball team at matutupad na nga ito,” the source added. “Ipagdasal na lang nila na hindi magkaroon ng aberya.”

Filipino boxer Harmonito Dela Torre is more than ready for the biggest fight of his boxing career when he faces unbeaten Chinese fighter Yongqiang Yang in the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Lucas Matthysse duel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Armed with the needed preparation and tremendous will to win, Dela Torre arrived in Malaysia on Wednesday along with his coaches Rodel Mayol and Marquil Salvana and Sanman Promotions’ Jim Claude Manangquil and Dexter Tan.

In an online interview with the Buzzer Beater, Dela Torre (19w – 1L-OD, 12 KOs) said he is in tip-top shape against Yang, who is unbeaten in 10 fights with seven knockout victories.

“It’s been a good camp. We have a good game plan and I can’t wait for the big day on Sunday,” said Dela Torre, who is hoping for an impressive win to get back at title contention.

“This could bring me back to title contention if I win,” said Dela Torre, who is aspiring to bounce back after absorbing his first career loss to Mongolian Tugstsogt Nyambayar last Nov. 18, 2017 in Las Vegas, USA.

This will also be the second time that Dela Torre, a former WBF world super flyweight champion, will be fighting in a card headlining the eight-division world boxing champion Pacquiao.

Dela Torre fought in the undercard of the Pacquiao-Brandon Rios duel last November 2013; the Sanman Boxing Gym stalwart pulled off a third-round knockout win over Indonesia’s Jason Butar Butar.

“I am very happy to be fighting again in the undercard of Senator Pacquiao,” Dela Torre said. “Of course, it is a different feeling to be part of his fight card so I won’t waste this chance to show my prowess.”/PN
