Postscript EDSA and other stuff

EDSA is just a long stretch of road in Metro Manila infamous for heavy traffic, more often than not resulting into gridlock. There’s nothing magical or historical about it. The only “spirit” there are probably the souls of those killed in traffic accidents along its stretch, so all that nonsense commemorating the so-called “spirit of EDSA” is just that – nonsense.

The EDSA nonsense is dead and buried together with the corpses of Cory, Ninoy and Noynoy Aquino so move on. We don’t owe them anything. What happened then they did it for themselves, their cronies and, most of all, political ambitions. They certainly didn’t do it for us. If you believe their boring rhetoric, you’re just a social climbing idiot.

The framers of the 1987 Constitution were not elected by the people to be their representatives in a constitutional convention; rather they were handpicked by Cory Aquino to assure that her will is imposed in that Constitution. The stringent provisions were to prevent another Marcos from becoming president (obviously in time it failed) and the so-called party- list provision is to give the Left and the pseudo-communists access into Congress to undermine the government using government resources.

The 1987 Constitution is not the will of the people but the will of Cory Aquino.

Incidentally, the legacy of EDSA is not that utterly “baduy” yellow ribbon but the “resurrection” of the dying communist insurgency.

You see, by the early 1980s all the top leaders of the CPP/NPA/NDF were either captured or dead and the insurgency was gasping for breath or dead. Then this EDSA nonsense and Cory Aquino became president. The first thing she did was to release the late Joma Sison et al.

And speaking of this more than 50-year-old communist insurgency, mainly because of the relentless offensives of the AFP partnered with the serious campaigns to win the hearts and minds of the people in the countryside by the NTF-ELCAC, what was once 89 active guerilla fronts, the taskforce successfully dismantled 78, reducing their strength to just 11 weakened fronts.

Of course, there’s no let-up in the offensives against these 11 weakened guerilla fronts as the insurgency is running out of logistical support, recruits and bullets.

Take note that all encounters are now government initiated, meaning they’re basically mop-up operations to wipe out the remnants of these CPP/NPA/NDF guerillas.

These tired, hungry and sickly holdouts are fighting as bandits because the so-called ideology can no longer sustain them and they no longer have the capacity to initiate offensives.

To emphasize that point, check out these excerpts from the February 28 and March 2, 2024 articles from the Philippine News Agency:

Three NPA rebels were killed during an encounter with soldiers in San Joaquin, Iloilo.

The 61st Infantry Battalion of the 301st Infantry Brigade was conducting a focused military operation in the area when they encountered around 20 fighters of the Southern Panay Front, Komiteng Rehiyon – Panay.

The firefight lasted for about 20 minutes until the rebels retreated, leaving three dead rebels.

Moving on, the Visayas Command said military operations will now be focused on preventing the resurgence of the CPP/NPA/NDF in communities already cleared of insurgency.

According to Lt. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, Viscom chief, 30 rebels were neutralized during their February operations, with 14, 15 surrendered, and one captured, three of the 30 rebels neutralized last month were classified as high-value suspects.

Indeed, this more than 50 years insurgency nonsense is dying despite all efforts of their so-called human rights supporters in that biased United Nations to resuscitate it.

All that’s left are the shrill voices of the “useful idiots” in the University of the Philippines, pseudo communists, labor groups and the remnants of the so-called Makabayan bloc in Congress./PN
